National Parks and Wild Life Sanctuaries in Himachal Pradesh

Forests in Himachal Pradesh, roughly occupy an area of 37,569 sq.km. This accounts for about 67.5% of the total geographical area of the state. The major portion of the trees in the forests are of Deodar, Kail, Chil,  Spur, Oak etc. 
Himachal Pradesh has rich flora and fauna. In Himachal Pradesh, there are 05 National Parks and 32 Wild Life Sanctuaries. Since 1972, all parks and sanctuaries in the state are being set up under Wild Life(Protection) Act, 1972. Prior to this, areas were declared sanctuaries under the Punjab Wild Birds and Wild Animals Act, 1933 or the Himachal Pradesh Wild Birds and Wild Animals Protection rules, or under both of these. 
National Park is an area which is strictly reserved for the betterment of the wildlife and biodiversity. 
National Parks are located in District Kullu, Lahaul & Spiti, Sirmaur. Wild Life Sanctuaries are located in district Bilaspur, Chamba, Kangra, Kinnaur, Lahual & Spiti, Mandi, Shimla, Sirmour and Solan of Himachal Pradesh
state.
